Assist-Personal Activities

0107: Daily Personal Activities is designed to assist participants with their essential personal care tasks, ensuring they can maintain their health, hygiene, and independence.

We focuses on providing support to NDIS participants with everyday personal care tasks that they may find difficult or impossible to do independently due to their disability. This service ensures participants can manage their daily activities, maintain their personal hygiene, and live as independently as possible, either at home or in the community.

The goal of this service is to assist participants with essential daily tasks to ensure their health, well-being, and independence are maintained. It helps participants live comfortably in their own homes and participate in community life by helping with activities that are crucial for daily living.

  • Participants who have physical, intellectual, or cognitive disabilities that affect their ability to perform daily personal care activities on their own.
  • Individuals who require support for both short-term and long-term personal care needs, such as those recovering from an injury or managing a progressive disability.
  • Personal Hygiene and Grooming: Assistance with showering, bathing, dressing, shaving, grooming, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Toileting Assistance: Support with using the toilet, including managing continence needs or catheter care if required.
  • Assistance with Mobility: Helping participants move around their home or community, such as transferring in and out of bed, using a wheelchair, or navigating different environments.
  • Feeding and Meal Assistance: Support with eating and drinking, including preparing meals or feeding participants who are unable to feed themselves.
  • Medication Management: Assistance with taking prescribed medications, including prompting, administering, or organizing medication schedules.
  • Assistance with Getting In and Out of Bed: Support with transferring into and out of bed, adjusting bed positions, or helping participants rest comfortably.

  • Individualized Care: The level of support provided is tailored to the specific needs, preferences, and routines of each participant. Care plans are developed based on the participant’s goals and the nature of their disability.
  • In-Home Support: Personal care services are typically delivered in the participant’s home, but they can also be provided in community settings or while participants are engaged in activities outside the home.
  • Flexible Scheduling: The service can be delivered on a regular or ad-hoc basis, depending on the participant’s requirements, with supports available during the day or night as needed.
  • Skill Development: In some cases, support workers may help participants develop skills to perform certain tasks independently or with minimal assistance, encouraging greater autonomy over time.
  • Increased Independence: By receiving help with personal care tasks, participants can remain independent in other areas of their lives, such as social activities, education, or work.
  • Improved Health and Well-Being: Personal care supports ensure that participants maintain good hygiene, nutrition, and health, contributing to their overall physical and mental well-being.
  • Reduced Stress for Families: The service relieves the burden on family members or carers who may otherwise need to provide constant personal care, giving them time to focus on other aspects of caregiving or their own lives.
  • Participation in Community Life: With assistance in managing their personal care, participants are better able to engage in social activities, attend appointments, or pursue other personal goals outside the home.
